Following the success of last year's Coinex Fair, the BNTA Council has decided to hold the UK's premier international numismatic show once again in the sumptuous surroundings of the Millennium Hotel on the 1st and 2nd of October.
Overlooking Grosvenor Square in prestigious Mayfair, the Millennium is the perfect location to hold an event of this nature, with its accessible location and fashionable surroundings. The hotel itself combines an old-world charm with a full range of modern facilities, including a 24-hour business centre, with printers, photocopying and fax machines available, and wi-fi access in all public areas. For those wishing to escape the crush of the dealing hall for less formal surroundings the Millennium can offer the intimate Pine Bar and for those hungry for more, the relaxed atmosphere of the Avista Italian restaurant.
Close to Bond Street and Green Park tube stations, both less than ten minutes walk away, and within easy reach of Victoria and Paddington rail stations, the Millennium is in a convenient location both for those based in London, and those travelling into the capital from further afield. Ample, secure parking is also provided by the 24-hour NCP Car Park situated below the hotel.
The event itself will be held in the elegant and spacious Ballroom Suite of the hotel. Smaller than some previous venues the Ballroom will nevertheless have ample room to accommodate all those with a serious interest in displaying their wares, while at the same time retaining an intimate relationship between the dealers and their customers. Branching off from the main area, the room features two smaller suite-like sections which will also be available to those who favour a more relaxed, expansive environment in which to do business. The Ballroom boasts two stylish chandeliers and extensive down-lighting allowing customers a clear view of the coins on display, and is air-conditioned throughout. Secure storage space is also provided offering dealers the convenience of leaving their stock on the hotel premises overnight.
The event will take place on the first Friday and Saturday of October. Doors open at 11am on the Friday with Early Bird tickets available at £35 for those wishing to avoid the crowds and have a first look at what is on display. Public entry commences at 2pm and will be free for those with tickets, £5 on the door, until 6pm when the fair closes. On the Saturday, the fair will open at 10am and close at 4pm. To obtain tickets simply contact the BNTA directly or alternatively, ask for them at selected outlets. Any exhibitors wishing to take a table should contact the General Secretary directly; the address can be found at the BNTA website (www.bnta.net).
Coinex has always been a great opportunity to meet old customers and make new ones. It allows the public to access a wide body of expertise, view and handle a broad range of numismatic items, and share their passion for a fascinating hobby. Dealers have a chance to network with other colleagues in the trade and, if they are lucky, pick up the odd bargain along the way. Without doubt, this choice of venue will continue to add a touch of glamour to what is always the pinnacle of the numismatic year in Britain.
